The Playwright Meets His Move Across the Hills

Janice Makepeace accepts a paid stay at her aunt Bertha's wilderness tearoom on Lost River highway. Lancelot Neale, a playwright, visits, admires her, and stays to study her. She falls for him, but he confesses he must leave and cannot marry her, admitting she belongs to the city life he cannot offer. She reveals she too is drawn to Broadway dreams and bids him farewell with a kiss.
