John Cook Dies Suddenly at Oxford Home
John A. Cook born March 27 1855 near Elizaville Indiana Boone County died May 25 1917 after five weeks of ill health He was the eldest of eleven children and left behind a wife Parekh A Isley three children Alpha Thomas Arthur Jacob and Margaret Susanna nine grandchildren and several siblings He was a longtime Sunday School superintendent and devout member of the M E Church whose life centered on family church and faith.

Riverside shooting on danceboat leaves man wounded in altercation
At a riverside dance on the Wabash River, Harry C. Tucker shot George Kirts after an argument over a lamp. Kirts suffered facial injuries, a fractured jaw, and tooth damage but was expected to recover. Tucker fled. authorities were already seeking him.

William DeBoard died at his home in Williamsport at 3 00 Sunday morning from apoplexy. He was 27 and survived by a wife and two children. He had worked at the National Car Coupler plant in Attica for several months.

Indicted onion dealers in Indiana tied to price fixing
A federal grand jury indicted eighty five onion producers in the east and midwest for conspiring to corner and hoard onions. Indiana men named include F S Ort Co Churubusco Elmer E Gandy and A B Mosher F E Kenner and L A Schrader of Columbia City Cold Storage. The group reportedly controlled three fourths of the crop and sold onions farmers received 2 cents a pound while dealers charged 10 to 15 cents.
