Madison senior Isaac Boone wins Lilly Endowment Scholar award

Man from Yazoo City Dies in West State Road 56 Crash
A 62 year old Mississippi man, Jerry L Monday of Yazoo City, died in a New Year’s Day crash on West State Road 56 between Hanover and Blocher. His Ford F 250 and its trailer burst into flames after a fuel leak ignited, leaving Monday partially ejected and trapped under the truck. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office declared him dead at the scene. Dispatch logged the 11 10 p m call in the 11000 block of West State Road 56 in Lexington. Deputies, fire crews from Kent and Hanover, the coroner, and Indiana State Police responded. Investigators said the eastbound vehicle swerved left of center and left the roadway, ending with the truck and inverted trailer on their side. Firefighters initially responded to extricate the driver but he died before arrival. Monday had been working in the area as a contractor on a LG E KU Trimble County Generating Station project. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Stricklin King Funeral Home in Yazoo City.
