Garber family sells The Madison Courier to Paxton Media Group

Hoarding case animals seek new forever homes now

One hundred thirty four animals seized in a February hoarding raid west of Hanover are up for adoption. Madison Jefferson County Animal Shelter director Jenny Slover notes rapid progress toward homes as many animals are in shelters or rescues, with six cats and ten dogs at the shelter, others in area rescues and at sisaveapet.com. Rest must be neutered and fully vetted before adoption.

SW bus driver defuses assault and faces suspension

Ed Hensley, a Southwestern bus driver, stopped a student from assaulting his mother on his route. He was suspended three days for leaving the bus while children rode aboard, a violation of state law. His wife, Morgan Hensley, a longtime Southwestern teacher, spoke at the Feb. 24 Board of Education meeting, defending his actions and urging support for aiding others.
