Wallace named MPD chief in Madison appointment
Former Madison Police Chief and Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace has been named police chief by Mayor Bob Courtney. Wallace, who will take over March 1, is a former School Resource Officer with Madison Consolidated Schools and won from 68 candidates. He praised by Courtney as key to strengthening law enforcement and addressing substance abuse.

Major Dupont fire causes heavy damage and injuries
Firefighters battled a house fire on Reynolds Road in Dupont Friday morning. More than half the structure was damaged, two residents were hospitalized with non life threatening injuries, and mutual aid from Madison Township and Vernon Township departments aided the response. Fire Chief George Canfield said the call came in at about 6 35 a m and crews lingered for hours afterward to control an attic fire with water shuttled from a nearby hydrant. The house owner’s name and victims identities were not released.
