Vickie Gorrell, 59, of Madison, appeared in Jefferson County Superior Court on two counts of neglect of an invertebrate animal. Dozens of animals were removed from her three acre property and are under evaluation as authorities plan a larger seizure and investigation continues.

Alexandra Lawhorn, 23, former Trimble County Junior/Senior High School teaching aide, faced four charges in Trimble County District Court. She allegedly smoked marijuana with a 17 year old student and attempted to erase text messages and other evidence after police began investigating January 27. Lawhorn resigned January 28, posted a $500 bond, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled February 18.
