Madison moves to tighten rules over street repairs and potholes
Madison City Council gave first reading to Ordinance 9-2023 to repeal older Chapter 98 guidelines and require stricter permit, liability and inspection procedures for utility repairs and construction. Deputy Mayor Mindy McGee noted 180 road cuts were made on Main Street from Jefferson to Hanover Hill during last summer repairs, illustrating the scope of city pothole work.

Eight-fingered piano tuner Amos Plaster remains in tune
Amos Plaster, born in Kentucky 89 years ago, jokes about eight usable fingers and recalls teaching himself guitar at 14. He moved to Austin Indiana at 15, played for the Church of God, then became a piano tuner at 33. Over decades he claims to have tuned more than 30,000 pianos and has maintained Hanover College’s 17 pianos biannually for 38 years.

Hanover funds study on park expansion plan
Hanover Town Council approved a 5000 dollar study to map use of about 12 acres owned by Auxier Investments west of Hanover Community Park for future expansion. The plan aims to render possible layouts including parking, a baseball softball field, soccer field, and recreation buildings, with initial focus on parking and access improvements contingent on land acquisition and funding.
