Four Indiana County youths enlist in Marine Corps Buddy Plan

The Indiana County Marine Corps recruiting station announces four local youths enlistment under the Buddy Plan. Ronald L. Frye and Richard C. Pitzerell leave September 9 for Parris Island for three and two years respectively. Thomas J. Hoover and Paul W. Pozar set September 30 as their departure date for four years. Gunnery Sgt. D T Stevens will answer questions Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Indiana County Court House, contactable by phone 465-2448 or Johnstown 536-2417.

AP awards honor 43 papers and stations for coverage

The AP Managing Editor announces 43 newspapers and four broadcasting members as award recipients for outstanding AP coverage and photos. Quakes Jolt Denver Area With 4.5 Magnitude Tremor

Three earthquakes in less than a month rattled the Denver region with scattered damage reports. The latest quake measured 4.5 on the Richter scale, felt in Boulder and surrounding areas, as seismologists warn that a 6.0 could cause serious damage.
