Jury Holds Louin as Arson Suspect in Dixonville
A Dixonville hearing before Squire F D Donahey found Lewis Louin possibly guilty of arson. Fifteen witnesses testified that Louin moved large boxes from his storeroom before the July 9 fire. The verdict declares the storeroom maliciously burned and Louin guilty as principal or accessary, with December Grand Jury to indict. Insurance on Louin’s goods totaled about 6500 dollars, with policies held by People’s Insurance Agency and H E Timberlake. Store owner Roy Kinter was away Klondyka prospecting at the time of the blaze.

Two Cases Against Scherer Dropped
District Attorney W F Elkin and prosecutors dropped two larceny by ballee cases against Joseph Scherer after settlement Wednesday. The dispute stemmed from a Sunday riot at Cicero's in Hejlwood last summer that left one man killed and several foreigners arrested. Scherer aided four men who claimed they played no part in the fight and helped bring witnesses, receiving $500, part of which went to the district attorney for costs. After habeas corpus hearings, the four were released, and later Bruna and Giglerna were convicted. some funds were later repaid. The four who paid the $500, their lawyer, Scherer, and the district attorney agreed to settle the accounts. The lawyer later billed $25, prompting the foreigners to threaten future reliance on Scherer.
