Harrisburg Sept 29 A plan to split $27,000,000 state claret tax revenue equally between state and municipal bodies was advanced by a committee led by Mayor James G. Bohlender Franklin. The measure would allocate 50 percent of the tax to cities boroughs and townships per capita for general purposes. Delegates from 46 cities expected to reelect officers including WallE Greenwood Coatesville as president and consider further federal and state aid ideas. John A Shroyer reported $105,000,000 in revenues from a 34 percent gasoline levy in the current biennium versus $55,400,000 under a 2 percent wartime levy. An extra half cent funds counties and a one cent emergency tax was moved to the motor license fund to support municipalities by mileage. 202 bridges acquired July 1 will cost $3,533,000 annually to maintain. R E Moses urged concerted action to bolster clean streams statewide.
Wilbert E Paley chair of Allegheny Registration Commission says four state police are examining voter registration ahead of the fall election at their request. Governor Martin was asked to aid after a vote to seek police help, drawing protest from County Commissioner Kane who calls the inquiry private and illegal. Republican leaders dispute Kane’s claim of state police involvement.
John Stanley Borten of Rochester, 65, charged with kidnapping nine year old Marjorie Wick of Buffalo, ordered committed to Mattea wan State Hospital at Beacon after psychiatric exam declared him insane. Wick disappeared July 25 and was found with Borten in Rochester August 2. Borten had fled from a Pennsylvania state hospital since 1936.

In Wilmington a 23 year old divorcee, Marie Scari, was critically wounded by a jealous suitor, Charles A. Hudson, 37. He was charged with assault with intent to murder after a municipal court appearance and held on $3,000 bail. Two bullets struck Scari, two missed, and bullets were removed at Delaware Hospital. A continuing hearing is set for October 3 before Judge Henry R. Isaacs.
In Beverly Hills, Elliott Roosevelt and actress wife Faye Emerson occupy Granville Stratton’s home rent free since May while Mrs Stratton was ill. Stratton testifies he moved out his furniture and allowed them to move theirs. Mrs Stratton sues for separate maintenance, claiming hospital bills and asset waste. Stratton denies lack of funds for support.

Mrs Catherine Little and daughter Iva return home after two weeks with her daughter Mr and Mrs Archie Cannon of Waterman.
