Civil War Veteran Joseph Rising Dies at 95 in Rayne
Joseph Rising of Rayne township died at age 94, near 95, after a long life and service in the Civil War. A Blairsville resident George W. Stokes 77 died after being struck by a Conemaugh division freight train while crossing tracks on Burrell street Blairsville. He was found on the tracks after neighbors reported he had tried to cross and was jolted to the ground. He died at Indiana Hospital at 10 20 p m. He leaves a widow two sons J Blair Stokes and James Stokes and two daughters Mrs Clark M Gess and Mrs Lewis W Shank. Funeral arrangements are pending at his home 320 North Walnut.
