Blairsville prepares for a five day centennial celebration with two gatherings weekly and a Wednesday Army event. The Thursday opening of the William Penn Highway features downed barriers and expected heavy traffic. An ox roast open to all marks a key day with speeches by Lt. Mrs Ross Stari wife of J F Stang died this morning at East Oak Street home. Born in Tyrol Germany she moved to the U S as a girl living first in Pittsburgh then Indiana for ten years. A parishioner of St Bernard’s Catholic Church she leaves husband and children Rose Marie Aloyants. A requiem Mass will be held at St Bernard’s Church Monday morning and burial will follow in Cuyeh Cemetery.
Lakehurst N J Sept 25 A Navy Engine change recommendation for the Shenandoah was made by Commander Zachary Lansdowne a year and a half before the airship crash in Ohio. The plan called for three 800 hp Packard engines to replace five 300 hp units but had not reached experiments. Army observer Col Hall testified the loss stemmed from engine failure and lack of full power. Read the Gazette Glassined Ads.
YONKERS N Y September 28 INS William Hy Anderson former state superintendent of the New York Anti Balcone League says he has instructed his attorney Clarence Alexander to sue for 7000 libel damages against a Chicago religious publication. He plans to take part of any judgment unpaid. He also notes his American Prohibition Protestant Patriotic Protective Alliance aims to counter libel claims and preserve his reputation.
Los Angeles police believe four people died in a mysterious explosion that wrecked the House of Mystery in Lincoln Heights. The blast left little physical evidence. the building was owned by Italian merchant Tony Ferrera and neighbors reported unseen tenants and shaded windows. Authorities consider possible Blackhand involvement.

New York Sept 25 Traders saw few traces of yesterday's slump in early trading as motor and accessory stocks rebounded 2 to 6 points. Rail stocks advanced while specialty, tobacco and several utilities moved up. Fleischmann gained 4 points to 122, and Fed reserve fears lingered as directors met on rediscount rates.
