The Ohio Republican State Convention endorses protection for American industries, capital, and labor at high wages, denounces the Underwood Tariff as pro foreign interests, and rejects tariff commission pleas. McKinley is cited praising protection as a conviction yielding national prosperity, work and wages at home.
Warrants for state school appropriations to about 100 districts are delayed between the Department of Public Instruction and the State Treasurer. Signatures by Supt. Nathan C. effer were sent to the department but not yet signed. Auditors say payment will come as funds allow amid heavy state drafts for charities highway and governance expenses.
Numerous visitors travel through Indiana today from Clarksburg Heilwood Brushvalley Penn Run and Dayton while students and residents shun distant towns. Cuba native Louis Sotto arrives to enroll at the Normal. Local residents plan trips to Ann Arbor Clarion Birmingham and Pittsburgh.

Alternates are Mrs. J. A. Gordon Mrs. G. W. Earl and Mrs. M. I. Dickson. County president Mary H. Bruce will also attend. The local union has 150 members and three delegates. An excellent program and prominent speakers are planned.
A report on vision defects in Pennsylvania rural schools reveals over 82 000 of 100 000 inspected children have uncorrected sight problems. Poor vision strains nerves and hinders learning, with many dull children recoverable through properly fitted glasses.
