The Allegheny forest experiment station outlines a three point program to reforest barren coal fields across Pennsylvania New Jersey Maryland and Delaware. It aims to plant vegetation on culm banks and control soil erosion while creating recreation areas and boosting timber growth with civic group cooperation and congressional funding.

Col Roberty Pagh of New Castle served as auctioneer, with W B Connell of Penn State assisting.
Major Samuel Eugene Fitting district plant superintendent of the Bell Telephone Company and second in command of the 104th Cavalry died at his office desk in Harrisburg from a heart attack. He was 53, served from private in the governor's troop to a major in the Pennsylvania National Guard, enlisted in 1905. He is survived by his widow Emily, a son and a daughter.
