Willy Rody Christian Johansen and Fernando Costa Veiga survived 158 hours on the Esa a trans Atlantic wreckage after engine trouble derailed their flight. They were picked up off Newfoundland by the freighter Belmoira en route to Russia. Costa Veiga was injured but the others unhurt though exhausted. The crew reported sighting only one ship in the days adrift and that signals to the Pennland were unsuccessful.

Deer Struck by Auto on William Penn Highway Near Clyde
A nine point buck dashed from thick brush onto the William Penn Highway west of Clyde and was hit by a car about 1 15 yesterday afternoon. The deer suffered severe injuries and Deputy Warden G W McCullough of Seward was summoned to shoot it. The animal was a large nine point buck weighing about 200 pounds and was turned over to Blairsville state hospital at Torrance.
