Two Killed 28 Injured in Bus Crash

SOMERSET Pa A Greyhound bus and a large tractor trailer collided in fog on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Two women were killed and at least 28 others injured, with passengers transported to Frick Memorial Hospital and Somerset Hospital. The bus driver Alfred Wicklen of Hickory Pa was among the injured.

Young Republican Picnic Tonight in Indiana County

The Indiana County Young Republican Club will host a picnic at Mack Community Center open to the Republican public. A strange fiery object seen around seven last night drew many calls to the Gazette over last night and today. Reporters received no official statement, but an expert attributed it to sunlight reflecting off a vapor trail from a large jet bomber.

Spain Bases For U.S. Is Said

Probe Train Bus Tragedy At Monessen

In Monessen Pennsylvania District Attorney L Alexander Sculco planned to meet State Police to determine negligence in a fog shrouded train bus collision that killed four high school students and injured 47. The bus driver Edward Steiner 23 faced no charges as investigation continues. Steiner said he stopped at the crossing and opened the bus door but did not see or hear the train.

Indiana Man Killed When Truck Upsets

Paul Wolfe 30 Indiana R D 4 was killed when his Johnstown Sanitary Dairy Company truck overturned on Mt Tabor Road five miles north of Bolivar. He died of a crushed skull and other injuries after the vehicle slid off the road and flipped about 200 feet. Coroner Dr H C Long Jr will investigate. Time of accident set at 5 45 p m.

Accident Victim Reported "Fair" In Wreck At Robinson

Bolivar teen Albert Lupacchini Js aged 17 is in Memorial Hospital Johnstown in fair condition after a Tuesday wreck at Robinson. He sustained a broken leg and arm. Occupants Philip Lamantia 16 and Jack Biss 17, both from Bolivar and West Bolivar, suffered abrasions and are listed as in fair condition.

Cookport Fair Opens Today 35th Green Town Fair

Entry day kicks off the 35th Green Town Fair at the Cookport fair grounds with day and night activities planned. An amusement midway and refreshment stands will operate throughout the week. Children’s day is Friday with square dance orchestra contest in the evening. Admission is 25 cents until 6 pm and ten cents after 6, with each ticket earning a chance to win part of over $200 in merchandise Friday and Saturday.

Man Injured In Crash On Grant Street

Indiana Borough patrolmen rushed to Grant street near the College crossing after a fas car veered off the road and struck a tree. William A. Booth, 22, of 129 Philadelphia street, was admitted to Indiana Hospital with scalp lacerations, knee and chest abrasions, and possible knee fracture.
