A hurricane cut all communications with the lower East Coast of Florida below Fort Pierce today. The storm, described as a fierce hurricane, tore a swath of destruction believed centered near the Palm Beaches as it roared in from the Bahamas.

Girl Swallows Pins and Ring in Pittsburgh Incident
A 13 year old girl from Beaver Falls was held by state officials after an alleged suicide attempt in Northside. She told police she swallowed safety pins and a finger ring. X rays at Allegheny General Hospital showed no traces of the objects.

Obituary of W. E. Simpson
W E Simpson born July 4 1851 died September 0 at his Rochester Milla home. He long lived in Meeker Colorado and Mahoning township Pennsylvania where he taught and helped establish schools. He married Alma McKillip who died in 1915 and later Emma Hamilton. He served as postmaster in Hamilton and Meeker and was a lifelong educator and church member. He died after a long illness and is buried in Mahoning cemetery.

Grains Close Easier as Wheat and Corn Dip in Decline
Chicago grain markets closed lower led by wheat and corn amid clear weather in Canada and Winnipeg weakness. Wheat slipped to 1 4-8 to 2 1-4 cents, corn fell 1 8-8 to 1 7-8 cents, oats down 5-8 to 1 1-4 cents with receipts around 44 to 83 cars and 16,000 bushels early deliveries. Trade was fairly active with liberal country offerings and 200,000 booked on overnight bids, following action in other grains.
