Midnight thief slips into Oakland Avenue home

A midnight marauder entered Jay D. Hill's Oakland Avenue home last night and stole Young Sharkey's watch and a set of keys. Bud Fleming's cousin's trousers yielded about $65 in change. The thief apparently used Sharkey's car for a joy ride, returning with an empty gas tank. the empty pocketbook and keys were found on the Hill porch this morning.

Miner Killed by Roof Fall Near Timbuin

Coroner A W Dosch was notified of the death of Robert Barnett 63 at the Campbell mines on the Pittsburgh and Shamut road a mile and a half south of Timbuin. A roof collapse buried him and his son Harry in separate areas of the mine while finishing work for the day. Barnett, of Brookville, leaves a widow and children Edlid Knapp Jesse Samuel Phillipston William Pansy Charles and Harry all at home. Coroner Dosch ruled no inquest was needed.

Pretty Crippled Girl Is Slain

Catherine, a fifty five pound cripple girl, was found dead on the back porch of her home Sunday morning. Her Sunday dress was torn and a shoe lay in the front yard. Police said she fought desperately and the killer likely struck her on the head and knocked her unconscious after beating her. Dr Schwartz noted two deep scratches on the neck and that the victim had a weak heart.

Big Crowd Fills Gospel Tent Despite Cold Rain

A large audience packed the Gospel Tent at Seventh and Locust streets last night as Rev. William MacTavish led the song service and evangelist Rev. F. W. Henry preached from Gelatiana 6 7 8 on Gods Faithful Warning to Man. Several sought salvation or restoration, and healing prayers were offered. Services run all week with Henry speaking Tuesday on Hell and wishes for all non Christians to hear.
