A Commodore RD 1 woman, Norma G. Buterbaugh, 33, is hospitalized in satisfactory condition after a one car crash near Commodore at 12 10 a m. Leo G. Buterbaugh 44 was uninjured as his car was forced off the road by an unidentified vehicle. Damage listed at 1400 dollars. In a separate incident Mary C. Painter 26 of Saltsburg RD 1 escaped injury when her car struck an embankment on Route 286 near Edgewood while avoiding another car.

British troops fought a running gun battle with Irish Republican Army guerrillas in Belfast's Ardoyne District. The army said two guerrillas were wounded.
