Grand jury acts in berry patch killing
Marie Douglas a 17 year old Green township farm girl was indicted on murder and involuntary manslaughter charges in the July killing of 14 year old John Anderson of Greenwich as he picked berries near her father's farm. The grand jury also returned true bills against Pat Tierno Frank Tierno Ray Tierno John Ferra and Marcus Fischer for conspiracy in a brick throwing incident on the Wimble Penn Highway near Blairsville on July 11. Others indicted include John Slavick for DUI D N Bates for delivering worthless check Edgar Laney and Tommy Garry and Arthur Capitosio with various counts. Waiving grand jury action Edward Rishell and Wilbur Wright were sentenced for feloniously discharging firearms and malicious mischief.

Student Held In Child Death At Punxsutawney
Punxsutawney high school basketball star John Bowersox was jailed on five charges after a car crash on Albion road killed 11 year old Paul Rankin. Police say the youth took the vehicle from in front of the Bowersox home, struck Rankin and failed to stop. Rankin died at Adrian hospital.
