Two Army Second lieutenants Leo E. MacElligott of Butler and Charles S. Tygard of Pittsburgh were killed when their monoplane crashed from about 200 feet at Rogers Field. Tygard was piloting, as MacElligott had spoken at a Pittsburgh Aero Club meeting earlier. The squadron involved was the 324th Observation at Rogers Field.
