Lucerne Miner Dies in Rock Fall at No 2 Mine
Lucerne resident Stanley Bernard, a miner at Rochester-Pittsburgh Coal Co., No 2 mine in Lucerne, was instantly killed by a rock fall at 7:30 AM. He and his two sons had entered the loading room moments before the collapse. the rock was cleared and Bernard found dead. He left a wife and several children.
