Death toll from infant diarrheal diseases falls in Pa
Dr Emlyn Jones chief of the bureau of vital statistics announced 2224 Pennsylvania infant deaths from diarrhea and enteritis last year in children under two. The rate equals 23 per 100000 population and is lower than many regions. He noted January to March saw the heaviest infant mortality, while August to October had the highest diarrhea and enteritis rates. Jones said the state’s death rate from diarrheal diseases is no longer the main driver of infant mortality.
