First Continental Congress and Pennsylvania Delegation

The 1774 Pennsylvania Assembly appointed Joseph Galloway and others as delegates to Congress in Philadelphia. The body adopted the rights declaration, denounced Parliament taxes, and listed eleven acts it opposed. Dickinson and Wilson were later added to the Pennsylvania delegation as Congress convened. Galloway’s scheme for a Crown-appointed President-General failed, and he was sidelined after a six to five vote.
