Upgrades to interiors exteriors lighting acoustics and safety across buildings were completed by janitors under Mr Porter, including improved corridors and a renovated Horace Mann School exterior.

An 18 year old from Nanty-Glo is cleared by a Cambria County coroner's jury in the shooting death of Frank Selvage a 26 year old paroled convict from Houtzdale. The youth says he fired in self defense during an attempted kidnapping on a road near Belsano. The couple fled and were later captured. the woman suffered a minor gunshot wound.
