Exposition Opens in Blaze of Lights at Pittsburg Show

The twenty-first annual Exposition opening drew a packed crowd in Duquesne Way with the Russian Symphony Orchestra under Modgust Altschuler receiving enthusiastic applause. Two concerts filled the Hippodrome as visitors enjoyed new exhibits including a Monitor and Merrimac reproduction and a Roosevelt feature titled Eddy in the Jungle, highlighting a blend of music, displays, and scenic tech in a grand, illuminated setting.

Eight Firemen Injured In East Liberty Blaze

A massive warehouse fire in East Liberty caused by a wind driven blaze started in the Blangk Transfer and Storage elevator shaft. The flames spread through the building, toppled walls, and damaged the adjacent Hotel Cella, injuring eight firefighters.

Three Trainmen Die In Collision Near Huntingdon

A head-on crash between a double-header freight and a construction train in Red Rock cut near Riddlesburg on the Huntingdon and Broad Top railroad killed three trainmen A Mowrey Saxton Pa conductor construction train J J Rickard Huntingdon flagman construction train J K F Zero Sunbury fireman freight train. The railway officials blamed the operator at Saxton for failing to deliver orders that would have kept the freight on the siding. Two engines and fourteen cars were smashed.

Mansfield man tied to Schumacher case amid alibi gaps

Detectives probing the Anna Schumacher murder story say Frank Brown of Mansfield Pennsylvania gave inconsistent whereabouts for August 7 the date of the crime near Holy Sepulchre cemetery. They report Brown’s laundress tale and stained clothing plus scratches on his arm and neck contradict his statements.

Law Library Destroyed in Toronto Parliament Fire

Fire at Toronto parliament buildings leveled the west wing causing about 100000 in damage, fully insured. The Mowat law library, among the dominion's finest, was a total loss with no insurance. Premier Whitney aided firefighting as smoke poured from the roof and the skylight collapsed before responders arrived.

Couple Die Together Found in Jerome Park Reservoir

New York police theorize Dora Winifred Hockey and Charles Schock killed themselves after disappearing a week earlier. Hockey's body was recovered from Jerome Park Reservoir with no evidence of foul play noted by a coroner's physician. Schock's body was found the next day.
