Edward Warren Allen longtime Indiana Borough police superintendent since 1944 died of a blood clot in the Indiana Municipal Building basement Saturday. He talked with Patrolman Orvis Flick at 3 45 p m and was found by Patrolman Howard Sanford. Born October 10 1902 in Lock Haven he leaves widow Ebba Marie Casteng Allen and sister Mrs Ethel Harlan. Funeral at Leydic Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 pm with burial in Oakland Cemetery. six borough officers will be pallbearers.

Wilbur B Allison a Guam area veteran discharged August 18 from Bainbridge Maryland Separa tion Center was last heard from August 8 in Washington DC and told he was en route home August 25. Mrs Allison of 108 Fifth Street Indiana has enlisted state and local police aid to locate him. Described as 22 years old five feet 11 inches tall 160 pounds brown eyes dark hair slender build with a crooked right little finger and battle scars on legs. Serial number 821 73 58. Youth Admits Brutal Killing At Foster Mines
Pete Prenni a 26 year old Italian coal striker from Foster Mines faces a murder charge after confessing to killing Mary Vranko a 72 year old widow. He told police he was sorry and said he did not know why he killed her. Prenni was at Newry town earlier that night with 16 year old Eugene Kelly before the assault occurred at the widow’s back porch. The body was found Sunday morning by police. Police say Prenni confessed and urged Kelly to keep silent.

Arthur Wade Shields, a 47 year old Clymer coal miner, was decapitated at 3 00 pm Saturday after being struck by a Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive while sitting on the tracks near the Clymer depot. The engineer applied emergency brakes but could not stop in time. the coroner ruled accidental death with no inquest. The train was en route from Doylstown to Clymer and consisted of freight cars and a passenger coach.
