Indiana County Reports First Paralysis Case
Indiana County reported its first infantile paralysis case over the weekend as four year old Bobby Coffman of Indiana R D 4 was found to be paralyzed. He was rushed to Municipal Isolation Hospital in Johnstown where staff said both legs are paralyzed and he is very ill. Coffman’s residence is believed near Brush Valley in Indiana County. The case marks the county as newly touched while Cambria and Jefferson Counties report rising totals. Over the weekend two more deaths occurred in Pennsylvania bringing year to date total to 22. Philadelphia added three cases for a total of 37 in the city since January 1.

Six horse races were held with Dixie Harvester owned by Fall Creek Farm Homer City winning the feature 17 class pace, and Louis Scott a brown gelding from Johnstown finishing second. The fair ends Saturday with a Mine Safety Exhibition and contest featuring anthracite field teams.
