Man Arrest Near Avonmore Linked to Veltre Case
Detective Neal races to Blairsville to verify an arrest near Avonmore tied to Veltre’s description. State constables split paths toward Luzerne, Heilwood, and Barnesboro as officers chase Bruno Carbone and Joe Veltre, convicts in a high‑profile jail escape.
Fugitives Seen Near Blairsville and Veltre Carbone Portraits
Reporters Joyce and Finnegan, Sandard Oil workers, sight two men near Blairsville from which one wore a light fedora and the other a brown hat. The taller man asked directions to Blairsville and the main line, spoke briefly, and the pair were seen with a blue kerchief full of apples. A barber shop sighting and the distribution of a Gazette photo tie the men to Veltre and Carbone, though officials doubt the timing grants escape. Bloodhound traces Brano Corbone’s trousers near Fourth street Marsh Run crossing as authorities follow clues.
