The total duty payable will probably not exceed one dollar but the dispute has caused much haggling.

Fire destroys Chapel Bros horse meat plant wing
Nov. 23 Rockford Inl. A vast blaze swept an entire wing of the Chapel Bros horse meat packing plant destroying thousands of pounds of meat destined for Europe and triggering a panic among hundreds of horses. The fire caused an estimated loss of 76000 dollars. Two box cars containing a 35000 dollar tin working genses shipment were also burned.
