New York November 1. A yardlong pair of tongs proved fatal in a feud between two freemen Louis Seinelder and Marty Feurstein. Feurstein confronted Schneider over a dispute and a knife attack followed. Behrelder seized tongs and struck, the weapon piercing Feurstein’s brain and killing him.
Testimonial letters praise Munyon's Witch Hazel Soap and Paw Paw Pills for curing a widespread scalp dermatitis and eczema. Willard Tall of Philadelphia credits rapid relief and complete healing after using the ointment and soap, plus Paw Paw Pills nightly. New York reports Edward J. Morgan, postmaster, was shot last Monday by a demented stenographer Mackay. Morgan had believed the bullet lodged in his lining. instead, a battered lead ball was found in his vest pocket after his overcoat arrived. The incident precedes a Palace Rink basketball night featuring the Visitors and Crerette in their season opener.
In Trenton on November 13 Mrs Mary Wheeler Somerby of Newburyport Massachusetts an aged widow was named sole heir to John Wells Russell East Orange New Jersey estate valued at $100000. The state had sought to claim the estate but a later inquiry confirmed the cousinship based claim. Mrs Somerby eighty and poor. In Helena Albert Berfer before his suicide in Canyon Ferry tossed $2.44 in postoffice money orders to himself saying the money was government held and no one would quarrel after death.
A vintage ad promises easier wash days with P and G Naptha Soap. It claims cleaner whiter clothes, no backaches, and half the work in half the time by following wrapper directions. The tone imitates a midcentury sales pitch.
In Operation Manila on November 8 a two million dollar water system was placed in service. Water from Mariquina valley travels twenty miles through steel pipes and a concrete conduit to Manila, marking a major improvement credited to American occupancy of the Philippines.
Mrs A G Tyson of Livermore California recounts finding a book about extracting medicinal elements of cod liver oil and removing the unpleasant taste.
