Roy Unceapher of Brushvalley township was held for court in $500 bail after a hearing before Squire G C McLain for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Detective Koozer and Constable Irwin stopped him in Nixon Alley near the county jail and took him to a physician, who found him under the influence. The hearing followed a fatal accident on the BwP Highway Friday when 8 year old Clarence Steffey was killed by a car driven by Mike Spondak of Iselin, who was alleged to be intoxicated. Investigators warn drinkers not to operate cars and say those suspected will be examined and possibly jailed.
Senator George W. Norris of Nebraska, a veteran insurgent in the Senate, was bruised after being knocked down by a car near the capitol last night. He suffered a sprained wrist and a badly bruised leg but declined medical attention and returned home unassisted. Milton G. Wood, 31, the car’s driver, posted $300 bond on a reckless driving charge.

A New York jury had awarded Marcia Estradas $75,000 for the beating by Harry Thaw. Justice Aaron J. Levy reduced the damages to $25,000. Attorney Thomas J. McGrath withdrew briefly then rejoined, urging the judge to set aside the judgment as excessive.
