French Soldier in Prison Camp Ends Life in River Trave

Berlin May 31 A French soldier at the Oldesloe prison camp in Schles Tolstein committed suicide by leaping into the Ober Trave. His letter revealed his three brothers were killed at the front. He was buried with full military honors as German and French troops and the guards’ detachment fired a volley over the grave.

Thief Raid Leads to Custody for Hoarding Food

A Potsdam retiree reported a burglary at his home in Berlin during his absence. The thieves allegedly took 100 pounds of coffee, 200 pounds of sugar, 150 pounds of flour, 50 pounds of ham, 30 pounds of bacon, and 40 pounds of fresh meat. John K. Martin aged six, a native of the county and brother of George Martin of Indiana, died at his home in Fyrone on Tuesday morning at 8:30 of Clark. He leaves a widow and three children. Funeral services and interment were conducted today.
