Retired Pittsburgh Educator Named President of ISC Alumni
Helen M. Brennan, a noted retired Pittsburgh educator, was elected president of the General Alumni Association at Indiana State College representing more than 18,500 graduates. She will serve a two year term, succeeding Franklin H. George, with officers including Roy Ankeny and Marian Francis. Brennan’s career spanned eight years in Allegheny County schools, eight in Pittsburgh elementary schools, five in Oliver High School, and thirty years as a principal. She holds a BS from Indiana, an MA from the University of Pittsburgh, and has studied at Duquesne, Penn State, Columbia, and Boston University.

Man Jailed On Murder Charge in Beaver County
Ezra Lowe 41 of Aliquippa is jailed in Beaver County on a murder charge for the shooting of Fred Wallace 28 of Aliquippa. Police say Lowe admitted firing a .38 revolver after a scuffle during a ball game, then went home, retrieved the gun, and shot Wallace in the chest. He was arrested after an anonymous tip led to a Pittsburgh phone booth stakeout. Wednesday arraignment planned.
