Neighbors trapped two suspects after a burglary on East Campbell street Blairsville at 1:25 am. George Clark eighty and George Wagner one from Swissvale were arrested in a cellar hiding behind a furnace. they had breached a cellar window and a door, ransacked the first floor, and prepared to haul loot in improvised sacks. They were held in Blairsville jail for a preliminary hearing.
The Hagenbeck Wallce Circus arrives by 6 am via Pennsylvania Railroad and unloads by 7 pm. Performances are at 2 and 8 pm with doors opening at 1 and 7 pm. Tickets available at Hall Book Store and circus grounds. Featured acts include Princess Mu Kaun the giraffe neck woman, Clyde Beatty in a lions and tigers battle, Hanneford bareback riding, Bomaye acrobatic feats, Biletti high wire, and twenty nine elephants in a massive display. The circus departs at midnight for Johnstown after a Pittsburgh stop.
Reno dispatch reports Nevada poised to cast a near unanimous local vote to repeal the 16th amendment. Delegates to county conventions in 17 precincts will be elected by June 10, with overwhelming majorities in age meetings.
Pete Voyten of Lucerne Mines pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence after his car collided with Beyer Smith’s near North Homer City. Judge J N Langham fined 200 dollars and ordered 30 days in the county jail plus restitution and costs. Voyten and Ronald Colkitt were returning to Lucerne Mines from Glen when the incident occurred.
Senator Carter Glass has received several anonymous life threats linked to his clash with Ferdinand Pecora during the J. P. Morgan & Co. inquiry. The mail and blackguard telegrams condemn his stance as the Senate probes Morgan's international finance, with Pecora set to reveal more lists of favored clients and below market securities.
Poona May 29 Mahatma Gandhi ended his 21 day fast against untouchability by drinking orange juice at noon. A large crowd watched as he, frail yet cheerful, was moved to Lady Wakersey villa for the ceremony and then returned to his quarters to rest. Padmaja Naidu crowned him with lotus as Mrs Gandhi handed the drink.
Cloudy weather did not dampen the Commencement events at State Teachers College. A 10:30 am program in the gymnasium included diplomas, degrees, and an address by A B Meredith of New York University on A Philosophy of Education for the Times. The Baccalaureate service yesterday featured Rev Ralph C Hutchison of Washington College and Bach and Gretchaninoff selections from the college choir. An Alumni Luncheon followed with trustees president Thomas Sutton presiding and a program including soprano Kathryn Anna Heupel and others performing Delectable Mountains and Alon, Mater.
Detectives search for foul play in the death of W. B. Keller a 52 year old Cannonsburg man whose burned car near Uniontown yielded only a wig two dimes and a penny with a large sum previously believed to be in his possession. Relatives suspect murder as investigators pursue the tangled mountain tragedy.
Greensburg May 29 A compromise wage proposal was presented by D G Keller owner of Greensburg Garment Company to end the strike by about 150 girl workers who walked out last week. The offer includes a ten percent raise effective July 1 and recognition of other demands. The strikers will meet later today to act on the proposal.
The Village Park Lytle and His Orchestra will furnish all entertainment for Memorial Day night at The Village. Kenny Walker will be featured if the charge is 50 cents per couple or less.
Memorial Day ceremonies will honor Civil War and later defenders with a parade and Memorial Park program led by Grand Army of the Republic and allied groups. Notables include Indiana Post No. 28 leaders William B. Stahl and Asa Scott, plus multiple veterans organizations and drum corps. The procession features Company F of the 110th Infantry P N G, various Sons of Union Veterans branches, Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, and the American Legion Post 141 with John A. Erickson directing.
A Pennsylvania passenger express struck a loaded gasoline truck near Vandalia Illinois, killing two youths 19 year old Van Lee Smith and 9 year old Lyle Smith outright. Three men, engineer Albert Ahlers, fireman Charles Ahlers, and Rosario Intravarto of New York, were injured with burns possibly fatal.
Flint, May 29. Fingerprints of 16 year old Balte RaeDonald, heir to a million dollars, were filed for comparison with prints found on the heavy book ends used in the death of Mrs Grace MacDonald. Police seek Balte and 16 year old William Terwilliger as possible accomplices in the slaying.
Opening week end crowds at the Century of Progress exposition totaled 258 000 across the first two days official figures show. An extra trailer buses were added to move visitors plus bleachers along the north shore of the main lagoon will be expanded to handle larger crowds. In the exposition a contract bridge tournament begins today and runs 140 days with play by play shown on an electric signboard in the Hall of Science.

Theodore Tauseh, authority on stakes, reported thieves stole his suitcase containing deadly rattlesnakes and a kite snake. He described the snakes as his prize babies and said police would pursue the thieves, promising further tears and perhaps a few yells.
At Columbus May 29 the 14th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the U S A cleared a heavy slate of business, including elections to the permanent judicial commission and the Board of Foreign Missions Amid protests from fundamentalists over the resignations and board control. In Kansas City, Miss Mary McElroy, daughter of City Manager H. McElroy, recounted her 30 hours in captivity after a kidnapping for ransom of 30 000, describing gentleness from captors, a radio, a bed, and a swift release after ransom payment by her father. She stated she would have missed the experience for anything and joked with her captors about the ransom. The investigation continues as police pursue the kidnappers.
