Bulgaria closes wartime debt talks. commission departs

Sofia May 29 As a result of the final settlement of Bulgaria's obligations under wartime treaties the Allied Reparations Commission has left Sofia after months of work. Eliot Colvin chief of the English staff has departed and other Entente reps will follow. The commission's duties will be handled by legations. Departure saves Bulgaria about 60,000,000 leva annually and marks Bulgaria as the first defeated nation to settle all treaty obligations and end Allied control.

Desire for Knowledge in Pennsylvania High Schools

Harrisburg, May 20. Dr. J George Becht released tables showing rising desire for higher education across the state. High school enrollment jumped from 51,457 in 1918-19 to 73,705 in 1921-22, with graduates rising from 18,277 to 28,382 as nearly half of entrants completed the four-year course.

Dublin's plan to become a second Monte Carlo unveiled

A government report details a 1.25 million dollar scheme to turn Dublin into a gambling hub. The proposal envisions a modern hotel casino near Dublin with baccarat, chemin de fer, roulette and trente et quarante tables. The deal would skim 25 percent for the government and the rest for the company over twenty-one years.
