Viet Family Denies Valued Art Treasures Claim

A Montreal based Vietnamese refugee family says seized cargo on Guam, valued at 150 million by Saigon officials, consists of household goods and common art objects worth 50 000 to 100 000 dollars. Lawyer Baruch Pollack claims the family is wealthy with a luxurious Saigon home. Guam Governor Bordallo ordered investigation after intelligence prompted seizure. The North Vietnamese news agency accuses looting from Saigon archives and the Hue imperial palace and demands return.

Florida official urged for impeachment in O'Malley case

A Florida House select committee voted to impeach Treasurer- Insurance Commissioner Thomas O'Malley on 10 articles alleging he extracted over 72 thousand dollars from insurers he regulated. The 41 year old faces perjury, unauthorized compensation, and conduct violations, and is the first Cabinet member to face impeachment by the full House. O'Malley, re elected last November, has a separate June 30 trial on kickback and perjury charges.
