Memorial Day Parade Plans at Blairsville Cemetery

Blatraville Post No 407 and fraternal and veterans groups lead a parade to Blairsville Cemetery for National Day services directed by John Wienniken. Program includes music by Blairaville City Band, invocations by Rev J Norman Hunter, addresses by Mrs George H Marshall and Rev Robert I Galbreath, and a banded benediction. If rain, services move to the Richelieu Theatre.

Two men killed crossing tracks in freight collision

Two men died when a westbound freight train struck another crossing enroute to Bolivar. Whistle noise from the second engine failed to be heard due to the passing train, and the collision occurred as men attempted to cross. The tragedy follows a rock blasting accident at Ross Mountain Park injuring Ernest Henderson, 16, who later died at Memorial Hospital.

Obituary Notice for Rosanna Jackson and Elderton Church Figure

Mrs. Rosanna Jackson widow of Robert Jackson dies at 72 after long illness in Rossiter. Born in England March 80 1867 to John and Nancy Gallagher. She married Robert Jackson 59 years ago and they came to the United States. Samuel Neal and Rev M D McClelland attend Elderton Presbyterian Church where the deceased was a life long member. Body lies in state from 1 PM until services with viewing before the coffin is closed. Interment in Elderton cemetery.

American golfers dominate British Amateur third round at St Andrews

In a brisk day at St Andrews, Bobby Jones led a strong American contingent including Harrison Johnston and George Van Elm to solid third round wins. Jones defeated Cowan Shankland 6 and 3, while Johnston impressed in gusty wind, overpowering Col. Moore Brabazon as American players seized control.

Auto Crash at Water and Tenth Streets Involving Truck and Sedan

An Ausice Truck owned by the Indiana Sea Company and driven by Gary Myers collided with a Chrysler sedan owned by W. E. Everatt of Cincinnati, representative of King Leather Goods, at the Water Street and North Tenth Street intersection. The truck was traveling west while the sedan headed south. the sedan sustained heavy damage but no injuries were reported as rain fell lightly.
