Burgess, a 17 year old worker for Southern Desk Corp., was trapped in a well near King George County. Rescuers drilled a new shaft and inched a tunnel to him as oxygen, coffee, candy bars, and sandwiches were lowered. He communicated through the night and was freed after about two hours. His family waited above as doctors monitored his condition.
