Five Pennsylvanians Killed In Carrier Fire On Bennington
The Bennington disaster killed five Pennsylvanians including a 24 year old Lafayette College graduate Lt. (JG) Orlon Kane of Kane. Four others were injured as rescuers battled flames. Navy lists also include SN Francis Pramek and SN St. J. Schmucher among the dead, and notes injured survivors from Philadelphia Reading Wilkes-Barre and Harrisburg areas.

Ex Supreme Court Judge Ladner Dies at 89
PHILADELPHIA Grover C. Ladner former State Supreme Court justice and leading conservationist died in University Hospital after a long illness. He was 89 and a native of Philadelphia. Ladner served as Philadelphia Orphans Court judge before the Supreme Court appointment in 1951 and later championed conservation policies. He drafted major state acts and led sportsmen and conservation groups, shaping streams laws and housing and authority acts. He was a founder and first president of the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs and a past president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the League of Women Voters.

Accidental shotgun death near Uniontown

Jail Countian For Bad Checks Case Summary
Homer City man Doyle McAdams was sentenced by Westmoreland County Court to two to four years in Western Penitentiary after pleading guilty to passing bad checks.
