SCHENECTADY N Y May 27 approxi American industry power can keep the purge of war factories running at top speed indefinitely Charles E Wilson president of General Electric Company said today He told correspondents on the National Association of Manufacturers Production For Victory but recent additions to the country s power capacity have already raised the potential supply 10 per cent and new plants and auxiliaries will be in operation before the end of the year The increased capacity plus new interconnecting links with existing sources will more than meet the country s power needs Wilson said He added General Electric has on hand orders for turbine and generating equipment totaling 1 000 000 horsepower capacity This is highly significant he said when considered with the latest federal report which set the United States steam and hydro electric power output generating capacity at no 55 000 000 ha Le Wilson described to the correspondents who toured his company s plant at Schenectady how General Electric s production schedule is being exceeded on all of the features of different types of war material under contract General Electric is well on the way toward producing this year a billion dollars worth of war products at probably a greater variety than those of any other company in America He asserted Our war production for the first four months of 1942 was greater than in all of 1941 Our production for this war has already exceeded General Electric s total 114 through 1018 production for the first world war Wilson stated he believes the United States and her allies in the fight against the axis are comparable if not superior in technical warfare material and continuous research on special offensive weapons is matching anything the Germans Italians or Japanese may turn out

Visiting Judge John Lamorce declared a mistrial in the case in which DeAngelo and Elwood Getty, both of Pittsburgh, were accused of robbing a physician on March 10.
M L Annenberg Philadelphia publisher serving a three year term at Lewisburg federal prison for the largest individual income tax evasion case will be paroled June 1 due to ill health. The release shortens the minimum term by five months and he will be under Parole Board supervision until July 21, 1943. He has served over 22 months and was previously denied parole last July. The Parole Board cited his poor health and hospital admission for low blood pressure and heart trouble.
Raymond W. Ellis chaired a Bell rally addressing safety performance with remarks from David R. Ingalls Clarence E. Fay and Charles W. Wise. McKeesport Hospital faced a service staff strike as 73 of 125 workers walked out to press for a ten dollar monthly pay raise. Nonunion workers and 40 junior auxiliary members joined the effort, straining care for about 300 patients including 50 in maternity. Hospital officials noted wages ranged from 35 to 45 for maids and 50 to 65 for men, with meals and board. Negotiations with hospital representatives began to address the demands.

An unconfirmed Recife report says a U S warship answering a May 18 distress call for the Brazilian freighter Commandante Lyra chased and is believed to have sunk the sunken submarine. It marks the third enemy submarine sunk in nine days off Brazil. American bombers claim a U boat near Fernando Noronha and another reportedly sunk near Recife yesterday.
Elmer J. Martin, a Mennonite farmer from Ephrata Pennsylvania, and his family are en route by river boat to Paraguay where they plan to settle. They sailed for South America weeks ago after selling their farm, livestock, equipment, and most household goods. The group arrived in Buenos Aires yesterday.
Mrs. Anna Lukash born February 19 1904 in Spangler died Tuesday evening in her Clymer home from a complication of diseases. Surviving husband John Lukash and children John Jo Irene Frank Al Henry Lukash William Lukash Mary Even Lukash, mother Mrs Logan Puro, siblings including Mrs Albert Seltsky, Miss Catherine Puro, Mrs Emery Sheellack, and others. Funeral at St Anthony's Church Friday. Also Edgar Gardner Brady born November 20 1885 Chambersville died May 16 in Cleveland of pneumonia. Survived by son Carl Brady and brothers and sisters. Funeral at late residence and interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Cleveland.
