The fifty sixth annual spring commencement of the State Teachers College concluded with 333 graduates receiving diplomas and degrees. The program opened at 10 30 am with a prologue and invocation by J A McCamey D D. Edwin Broome Ph D LL D Ed D delivered the keynote, praising practical guidance. Diplomas were presented by C R Foster LL D president, followed by benediction and the band recessional. Class by curriculum included Primary Two Year 119 and Intermediate Two Year 114 noted among others.

Harrisburg May 27 The General Assembly completed action on the department auction measure and approved 11,916,000 for contraction work at state institutions. Liquor Raid Reported in West Wheatfield Town Ship
Moonshine stills were found operating in three of nine homes in Climax West Wheatfield township during a village raid by constables J Clair Irwin Jack Dunlap Guy Fetterman and Dave Stinson. Victims included John Barber Mrs Julia Berbe and Harry McGuiich. At Barber home a 25 gallon still 23 gallons of liquor 6 barrels of mash and 70 quarts of beer were seized. Berbe home yielded a 20 gallon still 244 gallons of liquor and 4 barrels of mash. McGuilich home produced a 10 gallon still and 2 1?2 gallons of liquor. Suspects were jailed awaiting hearing before Squire Walter H Jackson next Monday.

Virgil Kirkland, a 20 year old Gary athlete, is sentenced to as much as ten years in the reformatory for assault and battery with intent to rape in the death of his 18 year old sweetheart Arlene Draves at a drinking party he escorted her to last November.
