Presidential Pointers in Electoral College History

A fragmented report notes Okoyoté, a presidential candidate, fled between the election and the electoral college meeting. Hoiate Greeley, a Democratic and Liberal candidate, died before the meeting. B Gratz Bowewas the Democratic and Liberal vice presidential candidate, obtaining seven votes, nineteen fewer than the Democratic electors’ leader James Sherman. No provision existed as electors in Vermont and Utah chose Nicholas Murray Butler in place of absent Republicans.

Two Weddings In Armstrong County Draw Local Notice

Two weddings of interest to residents of Armstrong County occurred on Thursday May 25 in local homes. Sharp Calhoun Jr and Rose B Calhoun a prominent school teacher were wed at the groom’s parents home with Rev N Calhoun officiating. They will reside in Wardorf where Mr Sharp works at the Steel Mill. Clark Miller and Estella May Milfley were married at the bride’s parents home with Rev W H Walker officiating. Both couples are longtime teachers in Armstrong township and will reside in Elderton.
