Chicago dispatch reports meat packing plants largely back to normal after a 10 week strike by United Packinghouse Workers Union members. Most plants resumed operations while Wilson & Company seven plants and Rath at Waterloo and Morrell at Ottumwa remain out. Union accepted a nine cent wage raise, not the 29 cents sought, and planned continued action against Wilson for reopening terms. In Rath, guards were on duty after a fatal picket shooting spurred a shift in terms expected today. Kansas City saw Cudahy workers outside the plant with signs demanding jobs, though settlement had been reached and few entered.
