Will Terry Moore to report to West Point July 4

Will Terry Moore, a 19 year old sophomore civil engineering student at Tennessee A&I, becomes the first A&I student named to the U S Military Academy. He earned the appointment after Gore nominated him as a second alternate. Moore is noted as a Negro student at the predominantly Black school in Nashville.

Argument Ends In Fatal Shooting Near Route 22 Tavern

A dispute outside a Route 22 tavern six miles east of Hollidaysburg Blair County ended in the fatal shooting of Richard M Lightner 36 of McConnells Town. Lightner was shot in the stomach with a .22 revolver. Charles Sheteton 43 of Hollidaysburg fled but later surrendered with an attorney and was jailed on murder charges.

Second Bradford gas well opens new field near city

Thunder Rock Producing Co. of Chicago reports a second new gas well near Bradford with an estimated open flow of 2 to 3 million cubic feet daily. The neon well lies about a mile east of Bradford on land leased by the Bradford Water Authority. A previous well, located a half mile northwest, had an estimated open flow of 2 million cubic feet daily.
