Indiana County Boy Scout Council Tenth Anniversary Parade

The Indiana County Council Boy Scouts of America marks its tenth anniversary with a parade beginning June 19. Pilgrims Lose Lives in Red Sea Ship Fire

Paris May 23. A message received at Marseilles from Abel reports 105 pilgrims perished aboard the steamship Asia after a fire broke out in the Red Sea. The Aula was still believed to be afloat. Rescue ships moved the crew and the remaining pilgrims, about 1,500, who were aboard the ill fated vessel.

Federal officials seek bids from Pennsylvania or Western New York for a 1000 acre tract to host a new federal prison. Attorney General William J. Mitchell announced a $400,000 land purchase. Eastern States defaults on Indiana road contracts

The Eastern States Construction of Bridgeton New Jersey defaults on two Indiana county road contracts begun last year. The Dixonville Marion Center 52 mile concrete highway and the Blairsville Livermore 134 mile project will be finished by McCrady Brothers of Braddock and McHugh Construction of Springfield Ohio respectively, with 100 percent state financing and completion expected this year.
