13 Prisoners Escape From Brick Yard in Toledo
In Toledo on May 23 twelve prisoners at the workhouse brick yard overpowered guard Trompt, beat him, and fled toward a railroad bridge after knocking off boards. Guards pursued and police near Air Line Junction reportedly arrested two, with the leader among the captured. All escapees wore prison uniforms. A separate note from Vienna reports a Morava river ferry boat sinking near Togarevac with twenty women and three children drowned.
