Mrs Willis Wilson and two children spend weeks at her Ahome in Sharpebare. R A Thompson of town checked at St Charles Hotel in Pittahnng on Monday. Mrs Joseph A Dickey and her two children of South Sixth Street visit friends in Salteburg. Blacklick Mya and Mrs Short of Blairaville spend Sunday with friends here. Mr Page of Mineral Point spent Saturday and Sunday with friends. Misses Dora and Mary Hagerman visited Blatra rville. Mrs sud Mrs O’Brien and Miss Em gs Houston of Latrobe and Mrs Reed, from Blatraville, spent Sunday with their Sgmotbar Mrs Eliza Huston. i ar OW Onnfield of Alleghny spent Monday with his parents. Bes William Huston and Miss Car apore Blairsville visitors Saturday. Miss Ruth Sides spent part of that week with friends in Derry. Mr and Mrs Kissinger spent Sunday with relatives in Blakeville. Miss Archie Kankle of Indiana visited a day last week with friends.

In Owensboro on May 2 a Black man Robert Shaw killed Deputy Sheriff W C Brown and wounded seven others before being shot and killed as a mob burned his house. A large crowd watched as Shaw fired upon approaching officers, then fled from the burning residence amid a hail of bullets. Brown’s death and the exchange underscored a violent confrontation with local authorities.
