Fire destroys Heshbon mine buildings in Brush Valley
Early today a fire at the Heshbon mine six miles south of Mechanicsburg caused damages over 150000. Homer City and Armagh fire companies fought the blaze from about 1 a.m. to nearly 4 a.m., destroying the lamp house office machine shop and blacksmith shop. The blaze also damaged the power substation and mine equipment. The mine, employing about 65 men and owned by LCS Colleries of Johnstown, may reopen soon but repairs will take time.

City Water Condition Clears Up After Oil-like Flow
Indiana residents woke to dirty water from taps as sediment churned when water was pumped from the pumping station into the city lines.
