Masked trio pull off daylight bank heist near Avonmore
Three masked robbers, two white men and a Negro, raided the First National Bank of Avonmore near Saltsbury at 10 a m. taking between 8 000 and 10 000 dollars. Cashier Thomas Couch and teller Townsend were held up as the bandits looted cages and vaults. The getaway car, a small sedan, sped off with the gunmen and the driver leaping into the front seat. Police issued a statewide alert.
